ASI selects AIKO
The Italian Space Agency has selected AIKO-led consortium for a contract on new techniques for satellite navigation. The project proposed by AIKO will focus on the use of Deep Learning for deep-space navigation.
DEEPNAV is an ASI-funded activity that focuses on the small satellite Visual Navigation context.
The main use case of the project is the orbital control and the visual navigation service of a small satellite approaching an asteroid. This project is important because it allows AIKO to gain more skills in the space navigation domain.
The consortium is led by AIKO, and AIKO is responsible for the AI Visual Navigation topics and for developing and testing the provided solution on an embedded hardware device (TRL4).
This project is important in AIKO because it allows us to consolidate and deepen the Visual Navigation topic.
